BEGIN WITH YOUR ROUTINE

How much charge do you need by morning?

Daily mileage and the time your car spends at home are more useful starting points than choosing the highest-output charger. A driver with a short commute has a different need from a household returning late with two vehicles.

We review the vehicle’s charging capability, your preferred charging window and the existing electrical supply. That helps us select an output that is practical for the home. The car and the charging equipment both affect the actual charging rate.

CHOOSE THE CONNECTION

Hardwired or plug-in?

Both approaches need a suitable circuit and an installation that follows the equipment instructions and applicable requirements. The best choice depends on the charger and location.

Hardwired charging

The charging unit connects directly to the circuit. It often suits a permanent installation or an exposed outdoor location.

  • Plan equipment placement and cable reach
  • Match circuit and charger output
  • Check outdoor suitability when relevant

Plug-in charging

A compatible charger connects through a suitable receptacle. The outlet, circuit protection and equipment must be appropriate for repeated EV charging.

  • Confirm the required receptacle type
  • Assess any existing outlet before reuse
  • Allow space for the plug and cable without strain

MAKE DAILY USE EASY

Place the charger around the car, the door and the cable.

The nearest wall to the panel is not always the most useful place to charge. We consider the vehicle’s charge-port position, how you enter the garage and whether the cable would cross a walkway or interfere with a door.

Outdoor installations need equipment suited to the location. Routing through finished walls, across a driveway or to a detached garage changes the work. A clear photo of the parking area helps us discuss these details before the site visit.

  • Keep the connector within comfortable reach
  • Plan a place to store the cable
  • Include future parking arrangements where possible

BEFORE A PANEL UPGRADE

An EV does not automatically need a bigger electrical service.

Available breaker spaces and available electrical capacity are different questions. We review both.

Use the existing capacity

A load assessment may show that the home can support an appropriately sized charging circuit. We include the other household loads in that assessment.

Consider suitable load management

Compatible equipment can control charging around other household demand. It must suit the installation and the vehicle’s practical charging needs.

Upgrade where the project requires it

If the existing service or panel cannot support the proposed setup, we explain the upgrade and related utility work. It belongs in the overall charging estimate.

COMPARE THE COMPLETE INSTALLATION

What should the estimate cover?

  • Charging equipment

Clarify whether you are supplying the charger or want it included. If you already own one, share the exact model before installation.

  • The route from panel to parking

Distance, wall access, exterior conduit and trenching can change labor and materials. Detached buildings may require a broader electrical assessment.

  • Permits and electrical changes

The proposal should identify applicable permits, circuit protection, any panel work and who coordinates inspections.

  • Setup and demonstration

Include testing and a walkthrough of normal use. Where supported, we can help with the equipment’s connection and charging schedule.

Utility incentives change and may require eligible equipment or other conditions. Check the current program before purchasing based on an expected rebate.

Before you book

Choosing a home charging setup.

Here are a few details to help you plan the work. Call us if your property or equipment needs a closer look.

How long will my car take to charge?

It depends on battery size, starting charge, vehicle charging limits and the installed output. We discuss the energy you need for everyday driving rather than promise one full-charge time for every EV.

Can I use the 240-volt outlet already in my garage?

Possibly, after its circuit, condition and protection have been assessed for the proposed charger. An outlet that fits the plug is not enough to establish that the installation is suitable.

Can you install charging outdoors?

Yes. We assess the mounting surface, weather exposure and cable route, then use charging equipment suitable for that setting. The unit must remain accessible without obstructing normal movement around the property.

Can two vehicles share the available capacity?

Suitable charging equipment may be able to share or manage power. We review the products, the home’s capacity and how much charging each vehicle needs during the available time.

Can I schedule charging for cheaper hours?

Many vehicles and chargers support schedules. Use the time periods on your actual utility rate plan; they differ between plans and utilities. We can help configure supported equipment after installation.

Do you install Tesla Wall Connectors?

Yes. Share the exact Wall Connector model and the vehicles that will use it. We review connector compatibility, output settings, the circuit route and available capacity before installation. Tesla equipment still needs a site-specific electrical plan.
